A Peek in My Kitchen

Hi, I’m Sarah, otherwise known as The Bumbling Baker.  Food had invaded my Facebook, my personal journal, even my phone calls, so I created this blog as a way to keep it all in one place.

I’m no professional and am given to occasional blunders in the kitchen–hence the name of this blog–so I’ll tell you about both my successes and failures in the kitchen.  Hopefully you can try the recipes that turn out and learn from the ones that don’t; maybe you’ll even be able to offer me a little advice now and then.  If nothing else, I’ll be able to share with you my first passion in life, which is food.

You might notice that all my recipes are vegan, with the exception of honey in a select few recipes.  I have been eating a plant-based diet for about four years now and have been baking for only three, so honestly I’d have no idea where to start cooking with eggs and meat even if I wanted to.  I went vegan in order to lose weight, but along the way have discovered multiple reasons to make it a lifestyle and not just a diet.  I now am vegan first and foremost for the animals.  If you are interested in eco-friendly living, improving your health or reducing the suffering of animals, I highly suggest you take a little time to research the matter.  What you learn may surprise you!

As for my personal life, here’s a little about me.  I am 22 years old and live in the midwest United States with my fiance and our daughter.  I work in school food service (yes, I’m a lunch lady!) and bake cookies, cupcakes, and the occasional cake as a side job.  In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, music, shopping, and movies, but my first love will always be the kitchen!
